I think we can safely say that summer is finally here. Well, for those in the northern hemisphere! And summer means getting out and enjoying the sunshine and the water, especially if you have a boat.

This beauty is the Arctic Rose, owned by long time Embedded Adventurer TimZim.
He writes:
That lcd display you sent works extremely well. I made a timer for my boat which tracks the total time (hh:mm) from startup, sounding an alarm & flashing an led every hour until the alarm is reset.
This is handy for remembering to fill in the log and for crew watch changes on longer trips. Still need to do some work on sleep mode for battery power saving, but it's proved very handy already.

The next step, he says, is to tidy it up and mount it in a box - but we really like the fact that you can create some very useful things with a broadboard and a few simple modules. We'll be adding to the range of LCDs we stock really soon.
